Please note: BrightView’s intensive outpatient program (IOP) is available only at treatment centers in Ohio. Patients outside of Ohio can receive support through our personalized outpatient treatment programs for substance use disorders (SUD). Our expert team can also help you find other treatment options.
Intensive outpatient programs are for patients who don’t need inpatient care but do need more support than standard outpatient treatment provides. An IOP is a structured program that includes medication assisted treatment (MAT), counseling, and group therapy. You'll continue living on your own while visiting one of our treatment centers for weekly sessions.
At BrightView, intensive outpatient treatment is flexible to fit your specific needs. Most patients attend IOP sessions for at least nine hours per week. Our IOPs are offered statewide in Ohio. Some centers provide IOP fully in person, while others may include certain sessions through telehealth. This means that some aspects of IOP treatment may be offered virtually, depending on the center.
These are the four standard levels of addiction treatment care:
As you recover, you'll usually move from higher to lower levels of care. The right level for you right now depends on your situation. We’re available 24/7 at 888.501.9865 to schedule your first appointment so you can meet with care providers and develop a plan that’s best for you.
At BrightView, we treat you like a person and addiction like the disease it is. Every patient is welcomed into a supportive, judgment-free community. Our intensive outpatient program includes counseling, medication assisted treatment, and case management. The difference is that IOP is more structured and time-intensive, giving extra support for those who need it.
Like all of our programs, IOP is built on our three core elements:
Private therapy helps patients identify potential triggers, build effective coping strategies, and gain self-confidence. Group counseling allows you to build community with others battling substance use disorders.
Recovery from substance use disorder can be difficult. BrightView offers multiple medication assisted treatment options to ease withdrawal symptoms and manage cravings so you can focus on long-term recovery. Your physician will advise you on what medications may help and how to take them safely.
We know practical support is also critical to overcome SUDs. Your case manager can help with resources such as provider referrals, legal aid, and finding housing and employment. Support doesn't end when you complete your IOP. Our continuing care includes regular check-ins and ongoing group therapy. If you experience a return to substance use, we have an easy, judgment-free path to program reentry for further support. Are you ready to get started? Many patients begin treatment the same day of contacting us. Find a location near you in Ohio or schedule an appointment today.
Asking for help battling substance use is a big first step toward reclaiming your life. Here's what you can expect when getting started with a BrightView IOP:
Your first day will begin with filling out a few forms. Next, you'll complete a judgment-free urine screen, followed by a mental health evaluation.
You'll also meet with a physician to discuss withdrawal symptoms, health history, medications you take, and MAT options if appropriate. Your care team is happy to answer any questions about BrightView substance use treatment and each step of the process.
You'll return within 1 to 7 days for your next appointment to follow up with your team and finalize your personalized treatment plan.
Once you've started treatment at BrightView, you'll follow a routine that includes private therapy and group counseling sessions. You'll visit us three to five days a week for three to four hours per session. You may be able to attend some sessions virtually.
During your visits, our nursing team will answer medication questions and carefully monitor withdrawal symptoms. You'll also take regular drug tests to track progress. At the end of your fourth week, we'll reassess your needs and determine next steps.
As you progress, you may "graduate" from intensive outpatient treatment to one of our standard outpatient programs. We'll provide ongoing medication management to keep your withdrawal symptoms in check. You'll also enjoy continued access to group therapy and private counseling.
Our mission is to provide the best intensive outpatient treatment in Ohio. That means setting you up for long-term success. Our aftercare programs aren't as intensive as IOP services, but we'll always be there when you need us.
Substance use disorders can be isolating, and no one should confront addiction alone. Involving family members and friends in your support network can help you get more out of treatment. If the people in your life don't understand what you're going through, we can help explain.
Seeking treatment is enough of a challenge—paying for it shouldn't be. BrightView accepts most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid.
When you start treatment, we'll check on your coverage up front so costs are transparent. If you don't have insurance, we can help you apply. We also offer self-pay for uninsured patients and can give you referrals to other providers.
We make Ohio IOP services as accessible as possible. We accept walk-ins on weekdays, and patients often begin outpatient treatment quickly after contacting us. We never turn patients away based on insurance status. We provide a welcoming environment for all. Find a location or schedule an appointment to get started.
At BrightView, we believe all patients deserve access to evidence-based outpatient treatment. We encourage you to check out our standard, comprehensive outpatient treatment programs. And if you need more intensive care, we can refer you to an IOP provider.
