What brightens his day: Walking into his home to see his 8 month old daughter, Marley, looking up at him, smiling.

Matt had spent nearly half of his life addicted to drugs. After getting treatment and getting about a year of sobriety under his belt, he began to think about his future. Unfortunately, spending most of his life doing drugs, he realized that he was not very good at anything. Then it struck him, “I’m really good with drugs!” At that moment he decided to go to college to become an addiction counselor. He obtained his Associate of Arts degree, his Addiction Counseling certificate and his CDCA from Cincinnati State and is now a current student at Northern Kentucky University, pursuing his Bachelor’s in Psychology. Since he made the decision to remove drugs from his life, his life has continued to get better. His passion lies with other addicts who are still struggling, and he has committed his life to help others achieve a life similar to his.  At BrightView, this is exactly what he is able to do! He, along with a few other amazing Peer Recovery Supporters, are able to be a model of hope that recovery is 100% possible and worth it!
