What brightens his day: Hearing a great (or terrible) joke. The bigger the groan, the better.
Alex is a professional counselor with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Cincinnati and a Master’s degree in counseling from Xavier University. Aside from the tremendous stress of deciding who to cheer for in the Crosstown Shootout, Alex has spent time working with children, adults, and families struggling with a wide range of mental health challenges. Through his work with families, he was consistently reminded of the tremendous impact that substance use disorders can have on not only the individual, but on every family member and friend connected to that individual. His desire is to see each patient improve his or her functioning not just as a person, but as a person connected to a larger system of support, love, and care. Alex is grateful to be in a position to help others advocate for themselves and focuses heavily on empowering patients to be able to create the life that they desire.
